  • What is most important to you?
  • What would you be willing to give nearly anything to achieve?
  • What brings the greatest joy in your life?
  • What do you value most?
  • If there were no restrictions and you could achieve any one thing, what would that be?
  • When you feel most fulfilled, what are you doing?
  • Who has made the greatest impact on your life? Why was that person so significant?
  • What is your purpose in life?
  • What do you want to accomplish in life that stretches beyond you?
  • What do you want your legacy to be?
  • What is your mission?

Mission is the foundation for life in everything you do personally, with your family, in your career, and in social situations. A mission that is selfless versus selfish has been shown to bring greater passion, achievement, perseverance and fulfillment in life.

The mission is WHAT you have set out to accomplish. It is your purpose. HOW you will achieve your mission is defined by your values. Your mission should include fundamental values that direct the way your mission is accomplished.

  • WHY is your mission so important to achieve?
  • How does what you do on a daily level connect or contribute to your mission?
  • Are there thoughts or actions taken that prevent progress towards achieving your mission?
  • How does your connection to God, the Universe, or Higher Power influence your life and progress towards your mission?

Just as important as your mission is your WHY. What is the deep guttural motivation that provides the fuel to get you through hard times to achieve that mission? Connecting your mission to a personal WHY that transcends yourself will empower you to achieve your mission, even through adversity and difficult times.

Connection connects what you do on a daily basis to your mission. Connection also uncovers what it is that holds you back and connects simple habits and tactics that can be used to stop destructive thoughts and actions from getting in the way of achieving your mission.

Simple & Specific

  • What are daily Simple & Specific actions that you can take that builds the foundation you need to achieve your mission?
  • What are Simple & Specific "life-hacks" you can put in place to recenter yourself when destructive triggers arise?

If actions are not Simple & Specific, they probably won't get done.

  • What is the frequency of Simple & Specific actions?
  • How many times a day, a week, a month is each action completed?
  • What frequency do I commit to in order to reflect and assess how well I have performed actions I have committed to, and how effectively I have stopped habits and actions that get in the way of achieving my mission?

Committing to a specific frequency of action is an important step in holding yourself accountable. Setting time aside for reflection and assessment on how well you have held to the promises and commitments you've made to yourself will accelerate your progress towards achieving your mission.

E=mcs2 in Summary:

  • What is your mission and values associated with it?
  • Why is it so important to achieve that mission?
  • What are daily actions you commit to take that contribute to your mission?
  • Are your actions Simple & Specific?
  • Exactly how frequently will you complete each action?
  • What measures will you take to hold yourself accountable to commitments made to yourself?

E=mcs2 should be the guiding compass for actions you take personally, with your family, socially, and with your career. You should have a daily reminder of your mission and why it is so important for you to achieve that mission.
