True Self and Religion

Religion

 Actions and beliefs in regards to obtaining Religion or Finding your True Self is an important individual decision that will evolve throughout life. There are very spiritual, and seemingly fulfilled people, that embrace "very different" theologies.  Regardless of the different theologies individuals choose to embrace, there is an often unrealized opportunity to further the good with actions that unite us.

True Self

Acceptance, Presence and Mindfulness

Acceptance: If you don't like your situation, change it. If you can't change it, accept the present moment. Happiness is not determined by your situation. Happiness is determined by your thoughts around it.

Presence: Now is the only true reality. Embrace it, live it, love it...and you will see your life, your relationships, and your peace of mind transform in a positive way.

Mindfulness: In order to be present, you must be mindful. Stop going through the motions, the "to-dos" and focus on the NOW. Practicing on routine activities will help transform into true presence and a more fulfilling life.

Intention, Non-Attachment and Ego

Intention is where fulfilling life's dreams starts, whether is is as simple as finding a parking space at the mall or as in-depth as true love and spiritual awakening. 

Non-Attachment: when your sense of self is not dictated by the outcome. Happiness is no longer determined from what you cannot control now. 

Ego: People often do not realize the illusion of self until after a collapse of their self-identity associated with things, body, or thoughts (i.e. bankruptcy, divorce, body injured or maimed). Others still choose to resist what happened by becoming bitter or deeply resentful, hardening the shell of the Ego. Separate who you are from things of the world.

Managing Self-Talk

  • Studies have shown that developing awareness of current positive and negative self talk, followed by acquiring positive self-talk skills, and then implementation of those skills can have a significant impact on self-confidence, the way you view the world and obtaining your dreams.
  • Quantum Physics has shown that living things are emitters and receivers of energy...our thoughts, our emotions are energy which has a real impact on the physical world around us. Overcoming Anxiety and Stress

  • Significant health problems can occur with consistent states of high anxiety and stress. This condition also stifles many more areas that impact realizing your dreams and other quality of life factors.  There are resources that help.
  • Spending time in nature, or at least viewing it, can significantly reduce stress. The Japanese started the national health practice of Forest Bathing in 1982

  • Are your actions directed by a desire to do and be more, or through fear, guilt or shame?
  • Could you display the actions of the belief throughout the world and to any audience without regret?
  • Do you have a direct link to your higher power, or is there a person designated as a liaison?
  • Do you feel uplifted when following a belief, or do you follow principals out of guilt?
  • Are you able to hold to principles that speak to you and let go of those that do not?
  • Are some people placed above others, or separated as more important within the congregation?
  • Does it strengthen your family and relationships?
